 SOUTH COAST EVENTS

Weara54th South Coast Championship Regatta
Wimbleball 2010
Saturday 11 September 2010

Don’t Rush Away after the Regatta

We hope that you will be able to join us on Saturday evening after the South Coast Championship Regatta at Wimbleball Lake for the Prize Giving followed by some entertainment and refreshments provided by local businesses.

The first event of the evening will be the Prize Giving for the Championship and Open Events.  Ed Coode, twice World Champion and Olympic Gold Medallist, has kindly agreed to present the prizes.

Ed won his first World Championship in 1999, as a substitute in the British men's coxless four, rowing with Steve Redgrave, Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell.  In 2001, he won a second World Championship in the men's coxless four with Steve Williams, Rick Dunn and Toby Garbett.  In the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, he rowed in the coxless four with Pinsent, Cracknell and Williams . In a close race with World champions Canada, they won gold.

After the prize giving, there will be music from the Tone Valley Jazz Band in the marquee.  The Tone Valley Jazz Band was formed in 1959 by a group of local musicians living in the Taunton area.  The band has appeared on television, radio and also in films in different guises.  The music is easy to listen to, with melodies that everyone knows and good foot tapping rhythms. The ensemble is now entering their 48th year with not a gold watch in sight! They would like to thank the producers of cask conditioned ale for their success and hope, with the right blend of ale and good living, they will make their goal of 50 years.

If you feeling hungry there will be a Hog Roast provided by Yarn Market Hotel.  This friendly Dunster hotel is well renowned locally for its hog roasts.  The Yarn Market Hotel welcomes couples, families and businessmen and offers a variety of activity breaks throughout the year.

If you are feeling thirsty, or just in need of liquid refreshment then the bar will be open all evening serving a selection of drinks including real ale from the Taunton Brewing Company.  Taunton Brewing Company began production of Taunton Ale in October 2006 in the cellar of the New Inn, Halse. They outgrew the amenities at the Inn and moved to well appointed facilities. With more space, new equipment and larger brewing capacity they are able to produce a wider range of beers all with their own distinctive characters.

Please come and enjoy a relaxing evening after the exertions of the day.
